About Us

We are Felicia and Emmanuel Karikari, the founders of the Ezra & Elias Hope Foundation. Our mission grew from our own experiences with pregnancy and infant loss and the deep need for compassion and support during those moments. We created this space to honor our sons and to ensure families never have to face this journey alone.

Our Story

Our journey into parenthood has held both incredible joy and unimaginable heartbreak. After safely welcoming our first child, we thought we understood what life as parents would look like. But the years that followed brought three losses - Ezra, Elias, and a baby we never had the chance to name - losses that changed us in ways we could never have prepared for.

Grief taught us how quickly life can shift, how heavy silence can feel, and how often families are left to navigate pregnancy and infant loss without compassion, guidance, or support. In the middle of that pain, writing became a way to hold onto our babies’ memories and make sense of our grief. That process became the book When Was the Last Time You Felt Your Baby Move?, which connected us to families who had lived through the same quiet, devastating pain.

As we walked through our losses together, we began to see how many families in the High Desert face these tragedies without the resources or care they need. Our region carries some of the highest risks for mothers and babies and has limited access to maternity services. Too many parents are left to face impossible moments alone.

This foundation begins here because the need is real and because no family should be left without support simply because of where they live.

But our mission reaches beyond the High Desert. As we grow, the Ezra & Elias Hope Foundation will expand to support families everywhere, offering compassion, dignity, and practical help to anyone facing pregnancy or infant loss.

Every book purchased and every donation helps us move closer to that vision. It is one more way our babies continue to create impact - turning our love into compassion, and our pain into purpose.

No family should have to walk this journey alone. Our hope is that this foundation becomes a place of comfort, connection, and gentle support for anyone who needs it, wherever they are.
